My story

Changes

What counselling changed for me - and what I’ve learned walking alongside others since.

Two cupped hands holding soil and a small green seedling, lit by warm sunlight.

From client to counsellor

The changes I made as a result of counselling led me to studying at New College Durham, where I gained my degree. Yes - non-academic me, with a degree. For years I’d held the belief I wasn’t very academic; letting go of that old, outdated belief gave me the confidence to go further than I’d ever thought I could.

Do you know what’s holding you back?

Who I’ve worked with

Professionally, I trained and worked within Place2Be - a charity embedded in schools across the country offering counselling to children living often chaotic lives. Poverty, family break-down, domestic violence, addictions, bereavement, loss - all the things that get in the way of childhood.

I’ve also supported many teachers as they cope with the stresses of working with such children, and counselled parents trying to better understand their own needs alongside those of the children they care for.

Areas I have experience with

Bereavement & loss
Anxiety & low mood
Childhood trauma
Domestic violence & abuse
Relationship breakdown
Parenting & family stress
Low self-worth
Major life transitions
Work-related stress
